Nested between Navy Yard and Eastern Market, Garfield Park is a big park, that has a lot to offer - large open fields to run around freely, a jungle gym with fun climbing equipment for kids AND adults alike, bocce, tennis courts, and even sand volleyball courts (a rare amenity in our District!). There’s also a skate park with cool graffiti that is partially hidden under the neighboring overpass. It’s a fun playground to burn off some energy, and we love the atmosphere Garfield Park exudes - whether it’s rope climbing and jungle gym maneuvering, dog walking, or photoshoots -it's a great park. Part of the original L’Enfant plan, the park has remained an open public space that is beloved and well cared for by both the city and local residents.
One of DC’s newer parks located immediately southeast of Howard University, The Park at Ledroit was built and opened to the public in 2011. It’s a neighborhood retreat from the daily hustle and bustle, and features an open field, a dog park, both toddler and adolescent playgrounds, and workout stations for adults (hello to dip bars, pull-up bars, sit-up stations…)! People love the park’s open space to relax, play pick-up games, and say hello to neighbors. In the summer, The Park hosts a popular summer jam concert series, making it a big crowd pleaser. Bonuses: right next door is the community garden at Common Good City Farm, where one can both participate in growing food and educating/being educated about urban agriculture. Also, overlooking one corner of the park is the mural “This is How We Live” .
Come together with outdoor enthusiasts at Patagonia DC for a talk with Jay Austin. He’ll be sharing his experience of living in a tiny home and tips on how to live responsibly. Doors open at 7, event at 730. Food and drinks provided!

Silent Disco @ GEORGETOWN GLOW
Imagine a silent dance floor full of people jumping up and down to the beat of their own…headset. As part of the Georgetown GLOW 2016, Art Soiree is hosting a Silent Disco next to one of this year’s light art installations—'On the Wings of Freedom' by Aether & Hemera.
Freedom, indeed, as you dance your heart out among a crowd of glowing headsets, one of three different genres of music pumping through each one of them. As you switch between the channels, your headset will light up with a designated color for each DJ so you can easily tell what each attendee is dancing and listening to.
